Choices

In our society, freedom of choice, or the ability to choose for ourselves, is a very important issue. Unless we are in a situation in which we have been denied our freedom and are forced to follow orders from those in charge, each of us makes the decision to carry out our actions each day. This would apply to people who are incarcerated or forced into servitude in oppressive societies. Even in these circumstances, one still has the option to make some choices, albeit in limited quantities. One can, for instance, choose how they will react to their oppressors and how they will treat them. Because true freedom is an act of the soul and we each have the ability to make choices in our souls, those who are in prison can still experience freedom when they have Christ. We can’t be coerced into thinking the wrong way by other men unless we choose to agree with them.

Choices Are Limited by Authority Other circumstances can restrict our choices because of the world’s authority. One of these would be the choices made by schoolchildren who are constrained by the rules and decisions made by the authorities. The military is also affected by this. These are just two of many situations that can restrict a person’s individual choices.

However, regardless of our choices today, they ultimately shape our future because each choice will either bring us blessing or curse. It could also be said that things will either get better or worse for us. Every choice has repercussions. These consequences will either benefit us or work against us. We are also accountable for the choices we make. In Deuteronomy 30:19, the Bible warns us, “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:” The Bible is challenging us. Therefore, choose life so that you and your descendants may live.

Just as the thread of sovereignty continues to weave through Joseph’s family, God threaded His needle through our lives and drew us closer to Him.
God’s plan for you includes the struggles you are enduring today, no matter how dire it may seem at first.

This does not mean that God accepts the evil that has happened to you. This means that God promises to use every experience in your life for your benefit if you draw near to Him through Jesus Christ (Genesis 50:20; Rom 8: 28). It is important for us to remember that in our struggles our goal is not to try to understand God’s plan. He never asked us that. Instead, He wants to see our trust in Him, through simple daily obedience, even in a land of suffering and chaos.
Pain and prosperity require us to bow before God in humility, trust, and dependence.
Our hearts should yearn for loyalty to God more than in certain circumstances.

It’s all up to you a wise person once told me everybody has a choice in the decisions they make in life Difficult circumstances will come and will always change the way we think about God. Either they tempt us to doubt what he has promised, or they draw us closer to him by faith. But we never stay the same. Choose to get closer. He promises he won’t let you down. Tell me your thoughts: why are you trusting God right now, which only He can do?
